Student involvement in park replanting

Yesterday our Elementary School students participated in the process of replanting grass in our park.

But do you know why EMBI usually involves its students in this type of task?

  • Taking care of school spaces strengthens the child’s sense of belonging and responsibility towards the school community.
  • Seeing the community enjoying something they have made gives children a sense of success and ability, building a positive self-image and encouraging them to take on future challenges.
  • Gardening involves all the senses, which stimulates good cognitive development.
  • Working with the land is relaxing and builds patience.
  • Collective work strengthens ties, enables discussions and sharpens the sense of organization and planning.
  • The child learns curricular content in a practical way (in this activity it was science and geography content).
  • Crafts improve motor development and the ability to concentrate.
  • A respectful relationship with nature depends on relationships established in childhood. To respect nature, one must love it, and to love it, one must know it.
